Plot:The voice comes from off-screen, speaking French, sometimes overlapping with that of the language mediator, and the two doctors who listen and ask questions in Italian. The work of building this communication with the necessary delicacy already seems to tell us a lot about the subject of a film that the two directors wanted to define as “a document.” More than a narrative, it is an experience in which contemporary questions about care and listening toward those experiencing fragility, disorientation, and often without even guaranteed rights are concentrated. We are at Niguarda, the most important hospital in Milan, which has always been a reference point for homeless people in the area. Today, most of the patients are foreign, to the point that, in 2000, the Etnopsychology service was created within the Mental Health Department. Here, those without a territorial reference point find support within treatment paths. Often, these are very vulnerable people, traumatized by the abuse they suffered on their journey to Europe.
