Cantautoma is a music and multimedia project exploring the creative potential of human- technology interaction. Started in 2015 as a solo project, Cantautoma showed from the very beginning its open and collaborative nature: as the one man band soon evolved in a trio, a lot more people have been working together on the non-musical facets of the project – from video and graphic productions to communication. A special effort is constantly put into the set-up of Cantautoma’s live acts – atypical shows, far from the classic rock gig or the electronic set just as the music performed doesn’t strictly belong to either genre. Cantautoma’s live acts are multimedia mashups made of movie quotes, projection mapping, dance, video art and motion capture: mutant shows which, inevitably, blur the distinction between what is played and what’s in playback, between what’s real and what is only projected. Until the very meaning of this distinction loses meaning. In more recent years, as if to remark the close connection between the project and visual culture, Cantautoma has devoted much of his production to the creation of original soundtracks. Cantautoma is entirely, proudly self-produced.
